The view that we need a global economy is nothing short of science fiction. These wars and how they have played out illustrate the folly of such an unrealistic concept. The world is divided. We can see it in the alliances in these wars; each faction is using economics to punish the other. These are supposedly trading partners, yet we let them run trade surpluses with us? How is that fair to America when even our corporations chase cheap labor all over the world?
I say we bring all manufacturing back to our shores and become self-sufficient. Our trading clients are not our friends and, in some cases, are enemies who are indirectly killing our troops by sharing intelligence and supplying weapons. We only trade with countries that share our worldview and respect workers’ rights to some degree. Loosen up our control-freak regulations on businesses to some degree and let our economy loose.
As Americans, we can help by changing our buying habits. When at all possible, buy American, even if it costs more. Most of us can do that. If you can’t find something you want made here, ask yourself if you really need it. Do not support countries that hate us and our freedoms, or you are part of the problem and deserve what you get in the end.
