Our sad truth

The Changing Wind in Politics by Generation | Armstrong Economics

There is a major shift underway in the public sentiment that is underscoring why our computer has been forecasting the collapse in Marxist/Socialism. The message of the Democrats has been the same since the Great Depression – vote for us and we will rob those who have more and give it to you. When we just look at the fact and put aside the political biases, the chart shows a very striking trend. When we combine both the Senate and the House and then plot the number of seats each party held as a percent of the whole combination, we see that the Democrats peaked with FDR. They have won at times ever since, but the percentage of seats held has been gradually declining. Now an online survey of more than 16,000 registered voters ages 18 to 34 has revealed that support for Democrats over Republicans in Congress has continued to decline among the youth. It has fallen another 9% since the 2016 election to just 46%. The responses say that the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy. This should come as no surprise. The entire Marxist agenda resonated with the Great Depression generation as the Marxists blamed corporations and never mentioned the Global Sovereign Debt Crisis of 1931. The younger generations are simply viewing the world differently as to what they can do themselves rather than what government can do for them. They simply want to keep more of what they work for. The Marxist message of the Democrats is gradually fading out. Equal Justice for All means it should apply fairly to everyone, not just some.

The Future The Good and the Bad | Armstrong Economics

COMMENT: Good morning Mr. Armstrong, Thank you for your service to Mankind! I look forward to seeing you and Vicky again in Orlando. I was reading your Blog on stem cells and felt compelled to send you the attached. … One other item of note; one of my other clients had their boat seized in the Bahamas by Bahamian customs for failure to have a cruising permit. The family was told there is a $10,000 fine to release it. The boat was dry docked in the Bahamas for the last 2 years after their parents passed. I had no luck calling the Bahamian customs so I called the US Embassy who is also having difficulty having their calls returned. Now that you are in Florida, be careful if you go to the Bahamas. Best, J REPLY: Yes, I am familiar with the advances in this area. They are quite remarkable. And you are correct. The Bahamas is not the only place hunting money. This is all part of the collapse of socialism. This insane process of borrowing with no intention of paying off the debt is starting to explode. A simple 1% increase in interest rates will send budgets soaring. We have reached the point of no return in the Sovereign Debt Crisis. We will be looking at Asia and how it will deal with this same debt crisis at the Singapore WEC in June. Most people have no idea that the China debt is 250% of GDP compared to the USA at 103%. All this focus on the collapse of the dollar has led to so many taking their eye off the real time-bomb ticking away. It is laughable how so many pretend analysts never bother to really do the research. They are clueless as to how the world monetary system would even collapse. All they do is constantly talk about the Fed, US national debt, and the dollar as they remain oblivious to anything taking place around the world. With respect to medicine, we are on the verge of some very important advances. So that’s the good news.

Australian Tax Office Scandal | Armstrong Economics

COMMENT: The Hunt for taxes Just to bring to your attention a scandal coming out with the Tax office in Australia pursuing aggressive revenue targets, and using unethical practices to generate it. D ANSWER: The scandal in Australia with the head of the Tax office is shocking involving a $165 million tax-fraud syndicate scandal. The police have arrested people in Australia which is admirable. The 2013 US scandal about the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) doing similar acts of abuse of power was never prosecuted or really investigated. It was revealed back then that the IRS had selected political groups applying for tax-exempt status for intensive scrutiny based on their names or political themes. This led to a pretend investigation by Attorney General Eric Holder. In January 2014, James Comey, who at the time was the FBI director and walks on water, told Fox News that its investigation had found no evidence warranting criminal charges in a neat cover-up. Finally, in late September 2017, a report by the Treasury Department’s inspector general found that from 2004 to 2013, the IRS used both conservative and liberal keywords to choose targets for scrutiny. Finally, in October 2017, Trump agreed to settle a lawsuit filed on behalf of more than 400 conservative nonprofit groups who claimed that they had been discriminated against by the Internal Revenue Service. The settlement included an apology from the IRS and a very substantial monetary settlement. That’s how they do it in the States. Government is always above the law and people like Comey always protect the bureaucracy. He is now doing everything in his power to take down Trump for the bureaucracy. The Australian Taxation Office and all its tax-avoidance investigations are now in jeopardy since the deputy commissioner is facing criminal charges and four of its officials stood down as well. This would NEVER happen in the United States.

The Failure of Human Judgment | Armstrong Economics

QUESTION: You have said it is a waste of time to try to persuade a government to act in advance of a crisis. Nobody seems to even come close to you with experience and contacts. Still, do you think it is possible to ever change that reality? PL ANSWER: Sadly no. The only possible way to change it would be to eliminate career politicians and people would serve one term as originally intended. People make a judgment in the own self-interest. Then you have the problem of human judgment. The majority is always wrong in markets as I have stated many times. But that decision-making process is wrong in so many other fields that also require a judgment. The author of Harry Potter, JK Rowling, told her readers on Twitter that she received “loads” of rejections before she finally got published. She said she was rejected 11 times before someone took a chance on her. This is the fate of human judgment in so many fields far too often because people also judge others by themselves. Some women were angry that I dared to say that not all prostitutes were forced. They judge others by themselves. There are people who have always slept around and others who value celibacy. We are all not the same. Likewise, Goldbugs cannot accept that gold is not money because that is their view and the rest of the world is wrong. When you judge others by yourself, you will never arrive at an objective decision. This is why the majority will ALWAYS be wrong in just about anything that requires human judgment. So eleven publishers rejected Harry Potter. What does that say about human judgment?
