Freedoms Are Interlinked

What the last few weeks of events have shown us, is that all of our freedoms are inter linked.

The young people involved in the gun rights protests, were alarmed to find that the government response to the protests and violence, was to attack their right to privacy. The schools want the students to use see through back packs. The so called leader was outraged that their right to privacy was being infringed.

The shooting had much to do with a lack of action on behalf of the government’s multi layered system of keeping us safe, failing on an epic scale. State, local, and federal agencies failed in their obligations to enforce existing laws and regulations that could have stopped or curtailed the violence.

The kids plead to the very entity that failed them in the first place to enact restrictions on freedoms of others not related to the violence. Of course the politicians that run the government, come up with an answer of more laws and restrictions for them to selectively enforce.

I hope this lesson was not lost with these young people. All of our freedoms are inter linked. When one is restricted or done away with, many more will soon follow.

The bathroom is divided into two separate areas, the first a sink and mirror with both washer and dryer opposite them. The other, the toilet and bathtub with shower capability. The kitchen and living room is separated by a marble counter top measuring 3’ by 6’. The building will be 3 years old this coming October, and I have lived here now 18 months.

I do not know all of the tenants, but most. Two families are Hispanic and I don’t speak Spanish, so we just wave or say hello occasionally. Everyone here has a nickname, and the one fellow called the California kid moved recently to Washington State, leaving me without a hippie type friend as he…
