General Motors CEO Mary Barra Was On Hillary Clinton’s List Of Possible VP Candidates

Virginia senator Tim Kaine may have the “inoffensive affable dad” vibe locked down as Hillary Clinton’s pick for vice president, but at least one person eyed for the gig was far more interesting and deeply tied to the automotive world: Mary Barra, the current CEO and chairwoman of General Motors.

And then there is this.

US Stocks Rally Aggressively, Bitcoin Adds $20 Billion Overnight

US equity markets rallied overnight in one of the most powerful market spikes in years – after being beaten down in October and the beginning of November – while Bitcoin, trading lower by 35% in the past 7 days, rallied to add $20 billion to its market cap. These types of moves are  shockingly aggressive and prove that the US economy, the Trump economy is far more resilient than many people think.

The Bitcoin rally of 15% overnight is telling investors that, despite the recent sell-off of 35% in 7 days and the fall from the highs of near $20,000 over the past year, down 82%, investors are focused on “long-term profits and investments” and are willing to take short-term pain if necessary. This implies that buy and hold investing in cryptocurrencies is here to stay. But why?

Well in our view, the fact that Bitcoin is moving from a Wild Wild West and individual investor market to a market that encourages institutional investing by long-term funds (again, with the support of US, Japanese and Swiss regulators), means that this market is likely going to withstand all threats.

Well, these market rallies come as 1. the US President meets the Chinese President at the G20 meeting and 2. US Fed Chairman says that US rates are near neutral, a 180 degree pivot from what he said 2 months ago. This means that we could be looking at more favorable investment environments in the coming weeks and months. A deal between the US and China is likely to not take place in our view, but who knows, anything can happen in Trump World.

Usually in the hunt for racists and other bogeymen who are blamed for the ills of society, they need look no further than the mirror. Projection and denial of cultural truths can be a shallow way to get yourself off the hook.

In the America that I know, a person is judged by their actions and behaviors on the personal level. A person is defined by their actions, not outward appearance. There are exceptions to this, but my experience with such people is limited to a very small percentage. JMHO

These 9 Everyday Science Words Have Fascinating Origins

We love words more than almost anything else here at Curiosity — anything else except for science, of course. So when a copy of Isaac Asimov’s “Words of Science” popped up at the office, we couldn’t have been more excited. We pulled some of our favorite words out of it and then went scouring the internet for more. These are the surprising origins of some of the science words you might use every day.

The LEI is the Means to an End to in the Hunt for Global Taxation | Armstrong Economics

QUESTION: Hi Marty, I wanted to ask you if you know anything about the LEI (legal entity identifier) that brokers are now requesting from clients who trade forex and other derivatives and who have accounts under a business structure? I recently opened a trading account under a business structure (company/trust) and was only told yesterday I have a month to get an LEI (which I have to pay for myself and renew every year) otherwise I cant trade. I have tried to gather info on it but there is only limited info and it is mainly info from the perspective of the reporting entities (such as brokers) and virtually nothing from the traders perspective. It seems like something that has been imposed by the EU. I was wondering if you have also had to obtain an LEI? Cheers D ANSWER: A Legal Entity Identifier (or LEI) is a 20-character identifier that identifies distinct legal entities that engage in financial transactions. The LEI is a global standard, designed to be non-proprietary data that is freely accessible to all so they can track what entities are doing worldwide. More than 600,000 legal entities have registered from 195 countries. This was created as a consequence of the 2007-2008 Financial Crisis. It is interesting how all governments manage to expropriate more power and control with each financial crisis. It was the CDOs created by Goldman Sachs which blew up the world just as the Black & Schol models in options blew up the financial world back in 1998 with the Long Term Capital Management crisis. But the legal entities that have created these catastrophes are NEVER punished. Not a single entity lost its license and not a single director ever when to jail. The people who blow-up the world are always UNTOUCHABLE and the rest of us lose our rights and freedom in the process. The argument back during the 2007-2009 financial crisis was that there was no way to identify corporations and financial institutions to recognize the counterpart corporation on financial transactions. Therefore, the GOVERNMENTS could not figure it out while the counterparties knew who they were dealing with and accepted their credit position. Accordingly, it was impossible for governments to identify the transaction details and track the money flows of individual corporations and institutions. Governments argued they needed a simple identification method of everyone in the world. In 2011, the G20 (Group of Twenty) called on the Financial Stability Board (FSB) to provide recommendations for a global Legal Entity Identifier (LEI). They wanted a cross-border entity to track everyone in the world. This led to the development of the Global LEI System which began issuing these LEIs to create a unique identification of legal entities acting within the entire world economy. The G20 claims this is necessary so they can know the total risk amount in a crisis. However, the G20 is still incapable of estimating individual corporations’ and the financial institution’s amount of total risk exposure. They are incompetent when it comes to analyzing risks across the entire global marketplace. They cannot even resolve the failing financial institutions in Europe because of local regulation that prevents cross-border solutions within the Eurozone. The G20 blames this lack of knowledge was one of the factors that made it difficult for the early detection of the financial crisis, they will NEVER act to prevent anything in the first place. Adding more regulation simply reduces liquidity and shrinks the world economy. The G20, in response to these inabilities of financial institutions to identify organisations uniquely, claim that was the problem so that their solution was that financial transactions in different national jurisdictions can be fully tracked. Currently, the ROC (Regulatory Oversight Committee), a coalition of financial regulators and central banks across the country, cannot possibly act in advance for they fail to comprehend the dynamics of the world economy. Hence, this is just another means of collecting data to be able to hunt for global taxation.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. More regulations, fees, and hidden taxes follow every crisis.

Climate Change – More than Global Warming | Armstrong Economics

There is a lot more to Climate Change than the dire predictions that we will be eating each other by now. The Sahara Desert was once lush and green. Then the weather systems shifted and the once fertile land turns to desert. The Sphinx is believed to have the face of Khafra of the 4th dynasty during the Old Kingdom which was carved perhaps around 2500BC. Some believe that the Sphinx predates the Egyptians and was actually a lion because there appear to be what some claim are water erosion marks. If true, then the original Sphinx may have existed even as far back as 10,000BC when a Lion would have faced the constellation, Leo. We do know that the Sahara was lush and tropical perhaps as late as 6,000 years ago. Curiously, this is about the length of recorded history. The stories of Noah seem to predate this period of recorded history and might have been linked to dramatic climate change. The story of Noah was even celebrated in Anatolia (modern Turkey) on the coinage of the Roman Empire. The weather has been changing in the desert. It is now in bloom once again. Indeed, there have been recent discoveries which confirm that the Arabian Peninsula was once a lush place. Tuthmosis IV was the 8th Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty of Egypt, who ruled in approximately the 14th century BC. The dream Tuthmosis IV took place when he was a prince. He dreamt that he stopped to rest in the shadow of the Sphinx during a hunting expedition in the desert. While asleep, the Sphinx spoke to him, saying that he would become king if he cleared away the sand that all but buried the Sphinx. When he became king, Tuthmosis IV cleared the sand and erected a stele that tells the story of his dream. There have been elephant tusks discovered and scientists have also uncovered 10,000 ancient lake and river beds across the Arabian Peninsula. All of this confirms that the climate was very different. What we do know is that the tropical belt has been moving northward once again. It was previously over the Sahara about 6,000 years ago. There are also cave drawings showing abundant wildlife in the Sahara. The question that arises is that the climate change we are witnessing is certainly not caused by humans. It has happened before many times. It is getting colder in the northern regions and what was desert is starting to bloom. What we do know is that Northern Africa was invaded by the Sea People who were probably Greeks forced to flee because of Climate Change. Perhaps we are witnessing similar events over the next 20 years of the dryer and colder weather in the north which compels many to flee to the south.
