Canadian Coast Guard Report Atlantic Ice is Increasing | Armstrong Economics

The Canadian Coast Guard is reporting that the Atlantic Ice in Canada is increasing. The extreme cold temperatures and the high winds have been combining to expand the Arctic ice. There is a natural cycle to this and they have reported that the seasonal “freeze up” is occurring three to four weeks ahead of normal and above the 30-year average. This winter is once again extremely cold. It has only been in the 60/70s here in Tampa and the same is true in Abu Dhabi. If next year 2019/2020 is colder still, this will be the fourth year and at then we would decline at a bare minimum very steeply into 2021/2022, where out models on markets are predicting a shocking event. So while the pundits keep talking about Global Warming and we will all suddenly become extinct, as Todd May is a professor of philosophy at Clemson University wrote in the New York Times: “I want to suggest, at least tentatively, both that it would be a tragedy and that it might just be a good thing.”

Democrats & Republicans Cannot Breathe the Same Air Anymore | Armstrong Economics

Once upon a time, Democrats and Republicans could actually breathe the same air and have a drink with one another. Those days are long gone. It was back in 2002 when they actually worked together to make the ads during a political campaign more reasonable and less outright vindictive and nasty. It was 2002 when they enacted the “Stand By Your Ad” legislation that was part of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. You had to state personally: “I approve this message.” The idea was that lawmakers would have to play fair together in the schoolyard making candidates less inclined to put out ads that were false or just plain nasty. Any public communication made by a political committee — including communications that do not expressly advocate the election or defeat of a clearly identified federal candidate or solicit a contribution — must also display a disclaimer. Those days of civility are long gone and the fall out has been the rising 3rd party movement. This time it looks like people are just abandoning the old party loyalties and setting out on their own. The political landscape we are entering in 2019 into 2023 is going to be very interesting and anything but politics as usual. This nasty infighting is indicative that indeed Democrats and Republicans cannot even breathe the same air any more.

The two party political system has failed us,is the bottom line. On running up the debt, they both work together, but not on anything else.

This is unsustainable by any measure. The government does not need more taxes, it needs less spending. Tax breaks take the money away from Washington DC politicians and put it in the private sector to create wealth. Governments do not create wealth.

This is why GDP should not include government spending. It is a distortion that defies economic logic.
