Open borders and globalization have caused problems throughout history. Foreigners travel to new countries and bring diseases to people who have no natural immunity. The American Indians, the Aztecs and Mayan cultures to name a few, were wiped out by imported diseases.
Entire civilizations erased from the face of the earth. Do we not learn from history? The globalists are on the wrong path. They want open borders for immigration and trade. In a world where free trade was fair and the playing field was level, that might work. These countries with cheap labor are heavy polluters without the environmental laws more Western countries have. This adds cost to the production of goods.
We all live in the same world, and having the pollution of manufacturing cheap goods moved from our country to another to escape the cost and regulation, will come back to haunt us all, as we are all culpable by participating.
The Western consumers should pay more for goods and service provided by trade partners with stricter environmental production standards. We could all get by with less to avoid pandemics and pollution caused by so called free trade and open borders.
China threatened to shut off our drug supply if we kept blaming the new virus on them. They make 95% of our drugs. Digest that for a minute and apply your thoughts to our entire supply chain.
It is time to rethink globalism.
