Why Are We So Divided?

Where I exist in the flyover country called the Midwest, we aren’t. People still hold doors for one another. You are often let into a tight line of cars if you aren’t cutting to the front of the line. We make eye contact with strangers and often exchange greetings. We can agree to disagree on politics in most cases. It is legal to have and carry a gun on your person and in your car. Taxes are low and government is small. We do not have many protests. The cost of living is inexpensive……
I could go on for hours. That is not to say we do not have problems and bad people. It is to say that they are in the minority and they don’t get endless media coverage. Good deeds and people are celebrated in the local media.
Elitist politicians and media shills from the coasts like to make fun of us, and don’t think we should have an equal share in selecting federal governance. In my opinion, they are the problem. We are all Americans first and we should consider that when we form our opinions about others. This is the best country in the world and people risk their lives to come here. Can you say the same for Russia, China, or anywhere in the Mideast? Is anyone trying to sneak into those places?
Vote with your feet and move away from those places full of people who are angry and full of hate and self loathing. Stop listening to those who preach about how terrible America is and want to change it into something they prefer.
We still have it pretty good in America, let’s keep it that way by not letting politicians and media elites divide us into tiny groups full of resentment and hate.
