The Supreme Court and Abortion

Years back, when the Court had a liberal majority the Court decided that abortion should be legal. Many had a problem with that because they knew that legalization would only be the tip of the iceberg.

In my opinion, it should have been a stste by state issue, but I digress. Soon after that we had taxpayer funding for abortions, followed closely by fetus parts being sold for profit and research. Open Secrets revealed that most of the abortion funding to Planned Parenthood was returned to politicians who voted in favor of the funding and the practice. Trump recently defunded government research labs from purchasing fetus parts. It had been going on for sometime right under the noses of anti abortion politicians.

I do not think taxpayer money should be used in the funding of abortions, or that body parts from fetuses should be sold for profit.

Many on the left would argue that without taxpayer funding that poor women would not have access to abortions. My solution to that would be that all abortion supporters could fund Planned Parent by private donations, or set up a Go Fund Me account. Put your money where your mouth is, so to say.

The fearmongering from the left about the court overturning Roe v Wade is drama. Even if it happens, the states can take up the issue and decide on the local level. A one size fits all solution enforced and regulated by the federal government seldom turns out well.
