Systemic failures happened in the government at all levels to protect citizens from madmen with guns. This fact is well documented.

The easily led 🐑  at these protests were convinced that the same system that failed should be given even more power. A cognitive dissonance to say the least.

The worst part of this demented groupthink is that legal gun owners should be punished for the acts of a mad man, and the ineptness of the government.
