Bashing the Police

Are there bad cops? Yes. Should they be punished the same as anyone else who commits a crime? Yes. Are there good cops? I don’t know because in todays culture and narrative, you do not hear about them.

I admit up front that I have a bias, as my Father was a Policeman in a very rough city. My Uncle was a Sheriff and later went on to be a Federal Marshal. I was an MP in the Army for awhile, a private investigator, security director, and security guard.

My experience has been that the attitude that you display toward police when confronted or questioned by them, will be the same as what you get back. Police have much discretion when they pull you over in a vehicle or question you on the street. When you decide to become belligerent or confrontational, you lose that.

Cops are Fathers, Husbands, Grandparents, Veterans, and everyday people just like the rest of us when they do not have the uniform on.

More often than not, you will not have any contact with them if you obey the law. When you do interact with them, they can look the other way on minor infractions that might otherwise cost you money, trouble or both.

We have a political and corporate class that does not obey or enforce the laws that they took an oath to uphold. They selectively enforce laws against those who do not agree with them, or call them out. People who do not agree with this government are viewed as threats.

The general public has been aware of this for sometime now. It is so obvious that it is often joked about. The subliminal consequences of these actions and inactions have eaten away at the moral fiber of this country as a whole

The same politicians who break and ignore our laws on a daily basis decry the abuse of citizens by some bad cops, while they ignore and break laws with impunity. The police unions feed money into the political system that the politicians gladly accept, while using their useful idiots in the media and the blogesphere to decry the outbreak of police violence.

If you want to call yourself a journalist, show both sides of the story. If you are a blogger and you relentlessly rail against police abuse while lightly touching on political and financial corruption, you may be being used by some very dark minded people.

Thank you for reading, and please feel free to disagree in an agreeable fashion.
